This page explains the rules for using your private relationship vault and what happens if vault secrets are lost.

Important: keep your Vault ID, Vault Key, and shared password safe. There is no automatic recovery if secrets are lost.

1. Scope

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Love as a Story (LaaS), a private relationship canvas application designed for two partners sharing one vault.

By creating or using a vault, you agree to these terms.

2. Access & Sign-In

New vaults are created by signing in with Google and choosing a shared password. Vaults created before public launch (and existing password-only vaults) sign in with three secrets: Vault ID, Vault Key, and shared password.

The Vault Key is presented once at creation and is not recoverable.

  • Signing in with Google lets you find the vaults linked to your account.
  • If your shared password or Vault Key is lost, vault access can become permanently unavailable.
  • You are responsible for storing and sharing your secrets safely.

3. Free Trial & Plans

New vaults include a 15-day free trial with one canvas and up to 100 images.

  • After the trial, the vault becomes read-only. You can still view and download your memories, but cannot edit, upload, or post until paid plans launch.
  • Each Google account is eligible for one free trial.
  • Anonymous (password-only) vault creation is a paid feature and is coming soon.
  • Vaults created before public launch keep their existing access and are not affected by these limits.

4. Eligibility and Use

You may use LaaS for personal, non-commercial memory organization and collaboration between two partners.

  • Do not upload illegal or harmful content.
  • Do not upload content that violates third-party rights.
  • Do not attempt to bypass security controls or abuse endpoints.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to evade free-trial or usage limits.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of your content, including notes, image uploads, links, and canvas structure.

You grant the app permission to process and store that content only to provide vault functionality.

6. Service Availability

Service may change, pause, or experience interruptions. Features may be added, removed, or modified over time.

You should maintain your own backups for irreplaceable memories.

7. Security Limits

This is a privacy-oriented application, not a zero-risk system. You understand that no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your photos, chat messages, and daily-prompt answers are encrypted on your device before they reach the server. The server never sees the originals.

Canvas data (text, drawings, element positions) is stored securely on the server but is not yet encrypted in the same way. This is planned for a future update.

8. Liability

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent allowed by law, the service provider disclaims warranties regarding uninterrupted access, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose.

You assume responsibility for how you use the app and how you handle your vault secrets.

9. Updates to Terms

Terms may be updated to reflect product changes or legal requirements. Continued use after updates means acceptance of the revised terms.
